ZEEHAEN’s maiden voyage was a circumnavigation of Vancouver Island in the
spring of 1999.
In the fall of 1999 the yacht accompanied the sister ship SPIRIT OF ZOPILOTE
owned by Bruce and Joan Kessler on a non-stop off shore cruise from Victoria BC to Marina Del
Rey CA. This was a 5 day continuous voyage with three people on board to stand watch.
The voyage continued a few days later to Catalina Island for a one day stop
and then on to San Diego CA for provisioning on a cruise to Mexico in Nov. 1999.
ZEEHAEN left San Diego non stop for a Marlin fishing trip off Bahia Magdalena
MX where 6 striped Marlins were caught. One was filleted while the others were released.
With a one night anchoring stop to clean the fish, the voyage continued off
shore and around the Baja Cape to La Paz MX.
In Jan. 2000 ZEEHAEN continued to Porte Vajarta Mx and on to Barra di Navidad
Mx where SPIRIT OF ZOPILOTE joined us again for a voyage down the coast to Panama.
The voyage was mostly continuous off shore cruising to the Pacific entrance to
the Panama Canal.
The transit of the Canal was made and the voyage continued nonstop to Key West
were we arrived in the spring of 2000.
ZEEHAEN then was taken up the US East Coast to the Chesapeak Bay and on to New
York, New England to Cape Cod. In the fall we returned to Florida for the winter.
The yacht then returned back to San Diego in the spring of 2001 and back to
Seattle in the late summer of that year.
In the summer of 2002 ZEEHAEN was taken to Alaska and extensively cruised
South Eastern Alaska and the BC Coast.
Zeehaen is currently enjoyed by its second owner and is cruising the Pacific
Northwest.
